These white porcelain mortars are conditioned for use by grinding some sand to give them a rougher surface which helps to reduce the particle size
They are perfect for powdering spice seeds and dried herbs. Using freshly ground spices and herbs are a nice gourmet touch to your culinary creations.
These reasonably priced mortars and pestles look nice, too. I use the largest size to hold potpourri in my guest bath.

Extra Large 8-1/2" in diamater and 3" high. Pestle is 6-1/2" high This size in particular is a really good value!! You retailers out there can easily sell these for $15.00 in your shop. This size will mash up anything. Also, the size looks really nice filled with potpourri and used in the bath or kitchen. I'm hoping the rulers in the pictures will help give you an idea of the size.
